Local leaders Gensler China, Sinobo Group, Dou Zhang and Shanghai Expo Group recognized for contributions to sustainable, healthy, equitable and resilient buildings and communities
10 June, 2021 (Shanghai, China) – Today, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) announced its 2021 USGBC Leadership Award recipients in China during its USGBC Live virtual conference. The USGBC Leadership Awards recognize the exemplary leadership of individuals and organizations contributing to the creation of sustainable, healthier, equitable and resilient buildings, cities and communities.

The 2021 USGBC Leadership Award recipients in China are:
Gensler China - The developer has a growing number of projects across the country, including LEED Platinum certified Shanghai Tower, LEED Platinum certified One Museum Place and Glumac’s LEED Platinum certified office in Shanghai.
Sinobo Group - Sinobo Group uses LEED certification as part of its green building and landscape practices to improve efficiency and pre-certified the Chongli Taizicheng Resort, site of the 2022 Winter Olympics, under LEED for Cities: Planning and Design.
Ms. Dou Zhang - Ms. Zhang is the director of the multi-disciplinary design firm Sasaki’s Shanghai office, a long-standing member of the USGBC and GBCI community and a big advocate for SITES certification administered by GBCI.
Shanghai Expo Group / China Flower Expo on Chongming Island - The creative flower celebration spread out along a main avenue earned SITES Gold precertification, using a framework to design, construct and operate the expo with the goals of sustainable and low-carbon development.
The USGBC Leadership Awards featured at USGBC Live recognize these notable green building projects, companies and individuals in the region over the last year and recognize the hard work put forth to create healthy, sustainable spaces.
USGBC Live is a new event that combines the expertise of the largest community of green building leaders with the data, insights, stories and leadership from the thousands of LEED and green building projects around the globe to produce insightful and engaging conversations about the future of buildings, cities and communities. Held virtually, the three-day event features localized content channels across different regions in the U.S. and abroad, offering sessions on topics that provide innovative ways to push the industry.
