Amsterdam, Netherlands – (21 February, 2019) – The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has announced that its annual Greenbuild Conference will once again return to Europe to highlight the region’s green building leadership, innovation and next steps for growth. The conference will be held in Amsterdam, 19-20 March 2019 and is the flagship event for sustainability professionals. Registration is currently open with hundreds already pre-registered.
“This is the second annual Greenbuild conference in Europe,” said Mahesh Ramanujam, president & CEO, USGBC and Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), the global certifying body for LEED and other green business rating systems. “Europe is at the forefront of green building and Greenbuild Europe will bring together business leaders with a focus on creating a more sustainable built environment and a better quality of life for all.”
This year's keynote speakers include Dr. Leyla Acaroglu, Founder, Disrupt Design and The UnSchool and a 2016 UNEP Champion of the Earth whose work focuses on activating positive social change through creative intervention and systems thinking. Acaroglu will be joined by Henk Ovink, Special Envoy, International Water Affairs, Kingdom of the Netherlands who works on water management issues across sectors and with global organizations including the World Bank, United Nations and the European Union. USGBC and GBCI’s president and CEO Mahesh Ramanujam will also take the stage to share the vision for the green building industry and how Europe is leading the way.
Recognizing the powerful role women are playing in helping to shape the future of green building, the conference will feature Women in Green, an inspiring networking lunch event. The program will include a discussion moderated by Claudia Gonella, Marketing & Communications Director at GRESB and feature Francesca Galeazzi, Team Leader for Sustainability and Simulation, WELL AP, ARUP; Lonneke Löwik, INREV CEO; and Marie Sallois, Director of Corporate Development, Brand and Sustainability for the International Olympic Committee.
