It Takes a Village to Save a Planet: Pammal, Tamil Nadu

“There was ‘Gupta Age’. There was ‘Iron Age’. Where are we now? We are in Garb’age’.” A simple yet strong statement by Mangalam Balasubramanian provokes a thousand thoughts with respect to our current situation.

Led by Balasubramanian, Exnora Green Pammal is a community of local women who go door to door every day to collect waste and spread awareness on the critical importance of waste segregation.

Joining hands with the residents, municipal authorities and private sector, Exnora Green Pammal manages and recycles solid waste. The community believes in the principle of reduce, reuse and recycle.
