PEER Pro badges help show the world that you understand the value of PEER certification
GBCI is releasing a new badge: PEER Pro. The PEER Pro badge offers professional recognition for those who have demonstrated an understanding of the importance of resilience and reliability in power grids and how it can be used to support better buildings and places for people and the environment. Recipients of this badge have been trained on the ways that the PEER rating system works to increase understanding of power grid or microgrid performance, benchmark against others, make improvements, realize greater efficiencies and reach higher levels of reliability performance.
Across the U.S., sustainable microgrids are emerging as a vital tool in the fight against climate change and increasingly common natural disasters. In the wake of hurricanes, earthquakes and wildfires, the traditional energy grid in many parts of the country is struggling to keep the power flowing, causing outages that slow local economies and ultimately put lives at risk. The PEER rating system enables you to measure the resilience and reliability of your microgrid with a single, straightforward, points-based system.
This new badge joins a collection of eight existing badge options. For each badge, you must complete at least four courses and quizzes. Once you successfully pass the quizzes, a new badge will be inserted into your USGBC profile overnight. The PEER courses are available at no charge through the end of October.
When you earn USGBC badges, you make it known to the rest of the world that you value deeper levels of professional expertise. Besides your usgbc.org profile, another way to highlight your expertise is through Mozilla digital backpacks, where your badge is stored so that you can add it to your social media profiles or other public websites.
A minimum of five courses must be completed for a minimum of 4 CEU’s and a passing grade in the quiz at the end of each.
